Treatment Massage

Receiving massage to help you reduce the impact of stress and overwork is great, but sometimes you have an injury or chronic pain that requires work that is more specific.  The answer is Treatment Massage.

Treatment Massage is a generic term for modalities that focus on specific disorders of specific tissues.  There are many different techniques and styles of Treatment work that offer relief for different needs.  They may be worked into a full-body massage, or the entire session may be spent in one area of need.  Some styles are designed to stand on their own as a complete treatment, but many are more effective when used together or in conjunction with a comprehensive rehabilitation plan.  Your practitioner will assess your injury or condition, create a plan of “attack”, and offer treatment for your individual needs.

Some of these techniques focus on the structures themselves; deep tissue, ceriax cross-fiber friction, range of motion techniques, myofascial release and unwinding, visceral manipulation, and so on.  Other forms of treatment seek to affect the nervous system or use it to trigger reflexive releases; reflexology, PNF stretching/MET, neuromuscular therapies, shiatsu, trigger point work, etc.

This is not an universally exhaustive list, but each practitioner will be able to explain the techniques they personally employ.
