Yep, I just can’t help it.  Contentment has remained slightly out of reach and I realized it was because I was not teaching Yoga.  I have been wrapped up in the massage world, and teaching anatomy all over the Northwest, but yoga classes have been nil for a year-and-a-half.  So, I went looking.

I wanted to teach, but I really needed to find a studio with whom I felt totally aligned….philosophically and otherwise.  This turned out to be more difficult to find than I thought it would be.  That’s not to say that there aren’t a ton of wonderful yoga studios… Read more »»

In the past few months, I have become acutely aware of the importance of strong business and social networks.  I have been working to launch my own website, a new business or two, and connect with new communities to offer my services…and all of it has depended heavily on knowing all the “right” people.

I don’t mean that I have high-up-mucky-mucks to pull strings for me.  I mean that in the ten years I have worked independently, I have created a long, long list of contacts and connections that help me get the word out about what I’m up to.  I… Read more »»

The 2010 Northwest Women’s Show is the largest such expo in the country.  Held at the Qwest Event Center, south of dowtown Seattle, the show features speakers, authors, educators and entertainers.  Attendees will be introduced to new products, educated on the everyday things we think we know about, offered insights and lessons on the life of a woman today.  See the stages and lineups here.

One of the vendors at this year’s event is Country Cabin Creations.  This is the local company bringing the heat-treatment Huggle to the open market.  CCC has joined up with some of the practitioners here at… Read more »»

Along with all the great information you can find on our site regarding acupuncture and bodywork, Summer has launched her own site at Sacred Healing Northwest.  There you can read more about her deep body of knowledge in acupuncture and Chinese herbs, and extensive repertoire of  Eastern healing modalities. I have personally experienced her work and am constantly amazed at the overwhelming amount of healing energy packed into one little person! I always leave feeling cleansed, cleared and realigned.  She has helped me through both injury and illness, and she is my first call when I am feeling stressed, overwhelmed,… Read more »»

Yoga teachers today face an increasingly competitive market for their skills and services.  While I am a true believer in the fact that there are plenty of students out there for us all, we each need to work diligently to increase our knowledge base and continue to study this art of teaching yoga.

One way to do that is by studying the Human Body.  Regardless of your yoga style or technique, the human body remains a constant across all Asana traditions.  This class is your window into the workings of this miraculous container we travel in.

We will review and discuss:

Each year Seattle Bodywork Cooperative gathers donations from our clients and friends to take to these neighborhood food banks. The Ballard Food Bank utilizes a “boutique” where those in need may come for free clothing, blankets and self-care items.  The University District Food Bank provides 1,000  families with groceries and toiletries each week.

As we did last year, we will also accept cash donations.  We use 100% of these donations to purchase toothpaste, toothbrushes and other self-care items to bring to the food banks.  We use the Dollar Tree to get the most product for the money.  Please consider bringing your donations… Read more »»

I want to extend a whole-hearted thank you to all of the participants in last weekend’s (October 31st/November 1st) Functional Anatomy for Yoga Instructors workshop.  I knew that Anatomy and Physiology were sorely lacking from the training of many Yoga teachers, but it was so rewarding to see how eager you all were to soak up everything you could!!

I myself learned so much from the class.  Though I have taught it many times over, this was my first adventure with current teachers.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your suggestions and feedback.  I hope that… Read more »»

Now that almost a year has passed after the formation of the Seattle Bodywork Co-op, I find myself more satisfied than I had anticipated with this endeavour.  I knew that when Richelle Ricard, LMP, RYT and I committed to building a new family of professional bodyworkers, that it would be exciting to continue my practice in the company of others in my own and related fields.  I had hoped that the atmosphere would be one of sharing of professional knowledge, and excitement in our individual missions as health care providers.  But what has developed has surpassed my expectations.

I think our success… Read more »»
